Raising awareness: Light the Night for Amyloidosis 2025

Individuals are encouraged to light up their porches and entryways with red bulbs to show their support for Amyloidosis Awareness Month.

Each year, the Amyloidosis Foundation hosts their Light the Night for Amyloidosis campaign throughout the month of March to commemorate Amyloidosis Awareness Month. The campaign allows patients, caregivers and scientists to advocate for increased awareness surrounding all forms of amyloidosis, including transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM).

From March 1 to March 31, the Amyloidosis Foundation encourages individuals to display red lights in the entryways of their homes.

Landmarks and businesses across 16 states, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom, are also hosting public lighting events throughout the month. These include Louisiana and Tennessee’s State Capitol buildings and Boston’s TD Garden arena.

The goal of the campaign is to support individuals affected by amyloidosis and promote increased education. By increasing visibility surrounding this complex group of diseases, the Amyloidosis Foundation hopes to uplift the amyloidosis community and drive progress towards a future cure.

This year, several local and county governments have also issued proclamations to recognize March as Amyloidosis Awareness Month within their municipalities. In doing so, they affirm their dedication to supporting the community by highlighting the need for increased funding and improvement of education among medical professionals and the general public.

In addition to the Light the Night campaign, the Amyloidosis Foundation is spotlighting events that will take place throughout the month, including the American Heart Association’s Patient-Provider Connection Forum on March 12 and the Bradley Z. Naifeh Amyloidosis Conference on March 21.

The Amyloidosis Foundation is a non-profit organization that was created in 2007 through the consolidation of the Amyloidosis Research Foundation and the Amyloidosis Support Network. Their mission is to raise awareness about amyloidosis through research, education and sharing of patient stories.
